AN AMBITIOUS PROJECT IN WHICH TO BE COMPETITIVE AND VICTORIOUS
A new category, a new challenge for gresini racing

This year sees the start of a new challenge and a new adventure for Gresini Racing: Moto2.
With the glorious 250cc era now consigned to history we have welcomed with open arms Dorna’s proposal for a new category and we were keen to enter it with the goal of being highly competitive.
We chose an important technical partner in Moriwaki, with whom we share the project, and we will work closely together to develop the bike. The technical experience that Moriwaki have gained over the years combined with our lengthy presence at the front of the MotoGP field will create an important synergy that we hope can produce a future full of success.
With the clear objective of fighting for the Moto2 World Championship title we went in search of a top level rider and we didn’t have to look far to find Toni Elias, who we have known for a long time and who we are certain can make an important and decisive contribution to the attainment of our objectives. We are joined together by the same winning spirit and we know that we can achieve our goals together. Toni is a determined, fast rider and he has a huge desire to prove that he is belongs amongst the very best riders in the World Championship. He wants to do that by pushing himself to the limit in this new category and by rising to this important challenge with us.
The Moto2 class will also produce future MotoGP talent and for that reason we were keen to give an opportunity to Vladimir Ivanov, a rider who was born and raised in Russia, not traditionally a country known for motorcycle racing. He has shown his talent in the German and Italian Supersport Championships. His is a challenge within a challenge.
Moto2 is an exciting new adventure for all the technicians and mechanics in the team, who will tackle it with the enthusiasm and passion that forms part of all of their spirits and characters. It is also a challenge that will put their huge ability and the experience they have gathered over the years firmly to the test.
