APRILIA IN AUSTRALIA TO CONSOLIDATE THE POSITIVE TREND

The lights have only just gone down on the GP of Japan and it is already time to get back on the track. This time it will be the rolling hills of Phillip Island in Australia that host the second round of the “triple-header”.

In Motegi, Aleix Espargaró gave Aprilia one of the best weekends of the season, proving to be extremely fast in every session. Only the driving rain that fell on the race kept the Spanish rider for taking his RS-GP to an even more important position, but his seventh place finish confirms the excellent level of the Italian bike. Sam Lowes also cut a fine figure on the Japanese asphalt, finishing in the points after a tremendous comeback.

So expectations are high for the Aprilia Racing Team Gresini. In the three remaining races of the 2017 MotoGP Championship season, Aleix and Sam have the potential to be protagonists.

ALEIX ESPARGARO’

“In the tests at the beginning of the year here on Phillip Island we were competitive and we did a good job. I am coming to Australia to repeat the good weekend we had in Motegi, maybe with a different result in the race. Both the team and I are giving it our all to finish the season well. We have three chances to take home some satisfaction and we will leave no stone unturned.”

SAM LOWES

“The Phillip Island circuit is very ‘Moto2-style’. There is only one corner where you have to brake hard, whereas the rest of the track is fast and flowing. It is definitely one of the best tracks for me. I am also optimistic because already in the pre-season tests I felt good here with the RS-GP. After the good result in Japan, I expect to battle for points in Australia as well, hopefully on a dry track.”
