MARTIN UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL SURGERY IN BARCELONA

Team Del Conca Gresini Moto3’s Jorge Martin has successfully undergone surgery to stabilise the injury sustained last Friday during free practice at the Sachsenring Circuit in Germany. The operation was carried out on Monday night by Dr Ginebreda at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona.

During the three hours of surgical intervention, the surgeon stabilised Martin’s right-ankle fracture (medial malleolus), which required two screws to be inserted. Despite the damage, no complete ligament rupture was found in his ankle, although a further fracture in Jorge’s right heel bone was discovered.

Due to this new injury, Martin’s recovery might be longer than hoped, even though a timetable for the Spaniard’s return to racing has yet to be set. He will now remain hospitalised at Barcelona’s Dexeus Clinic until Thursday 6th of July, while on the 17th of the same month a first check will be performed. More updates will be released in due time.
