OFF SEASON: NAVARRO BACK TO TRAINING

Jorge Navarro’s off-season has begun with some extra activities which – despite not being very exciting – are surely important for the Spaniard, who is currently recovering from three injuries following a nightmare second half of the 2017 Moto2 season.

The most recent ones date back to the Australian GP – where Navarro suffered a ruptured ligament in his left ring finger – and to the season finale in Valencia, in which the 21-year-old sustained a fracture in the scaphoid of his right hand. With the 2017 edition of the middleweight class of MotoGP officially over, it was also time for Navarro to undergo surgery to remove a screw placed in his left tibia after the injury occurred back in 2016.

This was more of a routine surgery for the former Moto3 title contender, which was performed last week at the Dexeus private clinic in Barcelona. This operation did not prevent the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 rider from planning his winter training schedule, which step by step will lead to his return to riding – planned for mid-January.

December 9th will also witness the traditional Jorge Navarro Fan Club dinner at La Pobla de Vallbona, the place where Jorge has spent most of his lifetime.

“I feel a lot better. The leg is in very good condition already, the finger is improving and the hand is getting better – albeit slowly. Everything seems to be going the right way and looks like I will be able to resume training halfway through this month. I will now start with some workout at the gym, but I will take it steadily: the goal is to strengthen both shoulders and ankles, but without going too far. I hope I’m confident I’ll be back to full fitness in early January already, so that I can start with some flat-track and supermoto.”
