TURN 8 HALTS NAVARRO’S PROGRESSION ON FRIDAY AT MISANO

The opening day of action for Round 13 of the 2017 Moto2 World Championship was contested today at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with Jorge Navarro unable to finish higher than 12th despite being only 0.581secs shy of Pasini’s best lap of the day.

The Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 rider had a fairly encouraging day, which was somehow hampered by one lowside per session – both happening at Turn 8 (Quercia) in the final minutes of action. The two incidents have obviously taken some track time away from the Spaniard, who was looking for the best feeling with the bike on a track that was not in perfect conditions – especially this morning.

On-track action will resume tomorrow at 10:55 local time (GMT +2) with Free Practice 3: the goal for Navarro and his crew will be to find more rear grip and better confidence under braking, especially at turn 8.

12th – JORGE NAVARRO #9
“I’d put it this way: good lap-times for being the first day and good feeling with the bike – especially in FP2 – but too bad for the two crashes. We’re happy that we got a decent start but I’m angry with myself for the two mistakes. Nobody likes to crash, especially me. In any case, we tried a new fork with used tyres that worked out quite well. We are improving on a track that is a bit different from the last test, or at least I feel less grip than earlier this year.”
