His personal best lap-time of 1\u201958.954secs came in today\u2019s second session; the Briton was among the few riders able to lap below the 1\u201959secs barrier as he was only three tenths of a second away from the top of the timesheets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This lap-time could grant the rider #22 direct access to Q2 \u2013 following the new qualifying format for the intermediate class \u2013 with one session left, although in the Triumph-powered category the competition appears to be very levelled this year \u2013 with 22 riders in able to lap under the two-minute mark in their quick-lap attempts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lowes\u2019s Kalex machine suffered a mechanical failure in FP1 as it suddenly stopped during the course of the session. The team led by Tommaso Raponi was able to fix the issue in no time; tomorrow, on the other hand, the chase for gold in Qatar will resume with FP3 at 14:20 local time (GMT +3) and Q2 scheduled at 18:50 (with first qualifying to begin 25 minutes earlier).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>4<sup>th<\/sup>&#8211; SAM LOWES #22<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a positive day. We tried something with the rear-end of the bike, which gave us some good information. Maybe tomorrow we\u2019ll try something different, and then we\u2019ll pick the best one for the race. Overall it was a good day; shame we lost some track time in FP1 due to a mechanical problem \u2013 which was not a mistake of the team \u2013 so I\u2019m really positive.
