The French Grand Prix did not start off the best way for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2<\/strong>as Sam Lowes<\/strong>was only 15th<\/sup>in the combined times of today\u2019s two free practice sessions at Le Mans. This is quite a disappointment for the Briton, who is left out from direct access to Q2 and now has to hope for a dry FP3 session.<\/p>\n

After a fourth place in FP1 \u2013 with his then-quickest lap-time given the non-improvement in the afternoon \u2013 a big step forward time-wise was expected in the afternoon, but a crash at turn 8 ruined the plans of the Faenza-based team.<\/p>\n

Despite not improving in FP2 \u2013 and only nine laps completed in the session \u2013 Lowes is only sixth tenths away from today\u2019s best time, but he still needs to find the right confidence and times on a track where he knows he can be quick.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, I would like to apologise to my team because I made a mistake at turn eight and crashed. The bike was not too damaged, but we didn\u2019t manage to get back to the track so that compromised the whole session. It\u2019s frustrating because it was important to qualify to Q2 directly, especially if it\u2019s going to rain tomorrow, but we need to keep working. We know we have a good race pace. In FP2 were working only with used tyres, but then the crashed changed everything.
