The speed Aleix and his RS-GP demonstrated throughout all the sessions was confirmed in the race today as well. Starting from the thirteenth spot on the grid, Aleix muscled his way into the top-10 hot zones straight away with outstanding passes and a brilliant pace. Three laps from the end, the Aprilia rider was preparing his attack on Quartararo and Vi\u00f1ales for seventh when a technical problem forced him to throw in the towel.<\/p>\n

Bradley Smith also had a good start and, in the early stages of the race, it seemed like he would be able to recover some positions. His comeback ride was slowed by rear tyre deterioration, keeping him from being incisive over the full race distance and forcing him to settle for a finish in the points zone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

“I have to be satisfied with my overall performance this weekend. We greatly improved the setup compared to last week. Yesterday in qualifying, I was extremely fast and today in the race I also gave it my all. I made some good passes with a top-5 pace and a few laps from the end I had easily caught up with Quartararo and Vi\u00f1ales. Just as I was about to attack Fabio, the engine stopped and there was nothing I could do. It\u2019s a hard pill to swallow but, as I said, I am satisfied with the work done here in Arag\u00f3n.”<\/em><\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

\n“The race began well. I stayed with Petrucci and we were making up ground on the group. My speed in the early laps was good and my tenth place on the list of fast laps proves that, but then, with the tyre deterioration, we were unable to maintain the pace. We know that this is one of our weak points and I hope that the data collected in these races will help the guys at Aprilia to improve the 2021 project. It\u2019s frustrating to always run into the same difficulties, but we won\u2019t give up.
