OVERSEAS TIME: JAPAN AND INDONESIA AHEAD
The ITALJET GRESINI Moto2 team is ready to fly to Asia for an intense double-header: first Japan, with the Motegi circuit, followed by Mandalika, in Indonesia. Two very different appointments that will once again put both riders and the team to the test, with different conditions, temperatures and race management to deal with. After the last European rounds, the goal is to regain momentum and make the most of this double-header.
Alonso Lopez heads to Japan with the confidence of being among the fastest riders in the field. His podium at Aragon confirmed his strong form, while the final results in Misano and Austria did not fully reflect the potential he showed on track. The #21 now wants to get back to fighting for the positions that matter, starting from Motegi and putting into practice what he has learned over the last few races. Indonesia, meanwhile, will present a different challenge, particularly due to the higher temperatures and the resulting need to manage tyre consumption.
On the other side of the garage, Sergio Garcia heads into this double-header with a strong desire to bounce back after a particularly difficult Austrian GP. The Spanish rider sees the next two races as a new opportunity to regain confidence and lift his spirits, in a part of the season that always brings plenty of excitement and which Sergio particularly enjoys. Motegi and Mandalika will therefore represent two important opportunities to turn the page and end this final part of the season on a high.
ALONSO LOPEZ #21
“We’re heading to Japan and Indonesia, two circuits that I really like. It will be important to apply what we learned in Austria, especially at Motegi. In Indonesia, it will be hotter, so the race strategy will change: we’ll have to pay even more attention to tyre consumption, and physically I’ll also need to manage the race as well as possible. I can’t wait to get out on track on Friday and see what we can expect from this weekend!”
SERGIO GARCIA #3
“It’s always nice and exciting to head to Asia; I have to say it’s the part of the season I enjoy the most. We can have two good races: I really like Japan, and then there will be Indonesia, where it will certainly be hotter and we’ll have to work differently. I’m coming off a really difficult round, so I’m very motivated to bounce back and I want to prove it starting this weekend.”
