FRONT ROW FOR RODRIGO IN #CATALANGP

Only one quick-lap attempt in qualifying was enough for Gabriel Rodrigo today, as the Argentine rider claimed the third position on the starting grid for the ninth event of the season for the middleweight class of MotoGP. His time was identical to the one set by Fernanded (1’48.380secs), but the latter gained second place as he was able to record it before Rodrigo.

A little disappointment on the other side of the Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 pit-box, as Jeremy Alcoba was not able to capitalise in qualifying after gaining the direct seed to Q2 once again – he will line up on 14th place on the grid. Nothing is lost, however, because the #52 rider already proved to be a ‘race animal’ and, on a track he knows well, he will have the chance to be part of the big battle for honours in the race scheduled to begin tomorrow at noon local time (GMT +2).

3rd – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’48.380)

“I’m very happy with the front row as it’s always very important, especially after what I was able to achieve last week in Misano. The race pace is not excellent, but I think after tomorrow’s warm up we’ll need clear ideas on how to attack this race.”

 14th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’48.969)

“The feeling with the bike is excellent and I’m happy, but I must say I’m disappointed for finishing that far from the top in qualifying as we had everything to do a lot better. Nothing is lost, we will try again tomorrow in the race, which is the moment that counts that most. I’ve never been a great qualifier, so we will try to make up for it in the race. It will be a difficult race because tyres wear out quite quickly.”
