HOME ROUND BEGINS WITH TOP-5 FOR NAVARRO

Jorge Navarro continues his learning curve within the Moto2 World Championship with a really solid performance in free practice at Circuit de Catalunya, the venue hosting the seventh Grand Prix of the season.

After setting the sixth quickest time of the morning session, the Federal Oil Team Gresini rider went one better in FP2 and finished the day in fifth place courtesy of a 1’50.497secs lap-time – which was three tenths of a second better than the one set in Free Practice 1. The 21-year-old Spaniard briefly hit the top of the timesheets, too.

Navarro showed also great speed on longer runs, which is a great sign ahead of Sunday’s 23-lap race. Jorge and the team are now hoping to find some more speed in order to further bridge the gap to the top and head into qualifying with even greater confidence.

5th – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“My feeling with the bike and the track was great straight from the get go, also due to the setting found in Mugello which seem to work well at this track. There’s still some work to do but the bike is working well, although I still need to feel a bit more comfortable in order to push harder. Having said that, a sixth and a fifth are surely two good results to start with, especially because we mainly worked on our race pace today.”
