MOTOE IS FINALLY BACK ON TRACK FOR THE 1ST TEST OF THE SEASON

Jerez de la Frontera, 9th March 2022. First test of the season is done also for the MotoE category, which returns back on track after the long winter break. Three days of intense testing that allowed the FELO Gresini Racing riders to experience the most different track conditions, from dry to wet.

Two different focuses for our riders: Alessio Finello’s goal was to do as many km as possible on this track, where he has never ridden before and to get to know the bike in all its characteristics and aspects. Right from the start, the Turin driver had a good feeling with his Energica, even in the rain, despite that having to discover every corner of this track was a disadvantage for him. It is important for the rider number #72 and for his team to improve day by day and to get closer and closer to the lap-time of the top riders.

Main focus for Matteo Ferrari: first of all finding the feeling with his bike. In 2021, the rider #11 struggled to find a good feeling with his bike, and that only improved in the last part of the season. This year, on the other hand, he will try to be competitive from the very first race, even with the new tires: these tests have helped the team understand how to make them work at their best. Positive sensations also in wet conditions on the second day of testing.

5th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1:49.230)
“We closed the first tests of the season in top5 and this gives me hope for the start of the championship. We’ve been fast also in the wet track so in general I am very happy. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to take advantage of the third and final day to improve my personal best time, in the first sessions due to the asphalt not yet 100% dry, then the simulation of Q2 was canceled due to a problem with a tire, therefore we were unable to gather new information. Now let’s see what will happen the next test in April, we will also work at home to take a further step, but the top5 is a strong signal that makes us understand we are competitive. I thank the whole team for their work and I send the best wishes to the mechanic Enrico, who today became little Nina’s father!”

17th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1:51.490)
“I am happy and satisfied with these tests, I worked very well with the team and also on myself. We started with a gap of about 8 seconds from the leading group to finish at 2.856 seconds from the first rider, and as debut in this category it is a good result for us. I knew it wouldn’t be easy to go fast right from the beginning, but I saw that we manage to improve every session, growing day by day. We will be back on track soon for the second test of the season: we will resume work from here to take a further step and be able to join the leading group from the first race”.
