ANOTHER CHALLENGING SATURDAY
A crash in yesterday’s Q2 relegated Matteo Ferrari on the ninth position of the grid, with the Italian ready for an uphill battle. Two more eighth-place finishes were today’s results, which add to the ones scored in Le Mans. Despite the outcome of this round, he seemed to have recovered both speed and feeling, so the desire to bounce back is plenty: what better opportunity to do so than his home round next weekend?
Alessio Finello also had a challenging Saturday as from fourteenth place on the grid, he found himself stuck at the end of the pack following two complicated starts. He then made his way back to twelfth in both encounters, narrowly missing on the top-ten goal.
MATTEO FERRARI #11 (8th RACE1 – 8th RACE 2)
“There was something positive to take away from this weekend: we had better practice performances on Friday compared to previous rounds. In race one I struggled quite a bit and didn’t manage to have the same feeling as yesterday. Race two went better, we made a step forward and understood which direction to take. We still missing quite a bit from the front runners: I’m happy with the standings situation as we’re 44 points away from the leaders. We know have to understand what we’re missing to be fully competitive, because we’re not in the position to battle for the podium at the moment.”
ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (12th RACE 1 – 12th RACE 2)
“Two tough and very fast races. I need to improve at the start and especially at turn one. I’m happy with race one though as I was able to settle into a good rhythm that allowed me to reduce the gap from the frontrunners compared to last year. I didn’t manage to get a top-ten finish, which leaves a bitter taste in my mouth because my pace was good and I was feeling good. I was even more determined to have a good race and finish in the top ten in race two, but the feeling with the front-end of the bike was not ideal and I couldn’t achieve my goal. I’m sorry for that, because we can do a lot better.”
