APRILIA AT THE MOTEGI TWIN RING TO CONFIRM THE PROGRESS OF THE LAST TWO RACES

Aprilia Racing Team Gresini tackles the first of the three consecutive races in Asia and the Pacific, seeking confirmation after the progress demonstrated in the last two races. In Thailand, unlike in Aragón, the good final result did not arrive, but the growth of the RS-GP, both in practice and in the race, was clear.

Now the test bench is the Motegi Twin Ring, which is not an easy track, characterised by abrupt stop-and-go sections and with medium abrasive asphalt that particularly stresses the rear tyre. The position of the track, nestled in a thick wooded area, also makes it susceptible to particular weather conditions such as mist and damp.

Aleix Espargaró will be able to count on a positive trend in the wake of his excellent result in Aragón and the surprising competitiveness that he demonstrated even on a difficult track like Buriram. A step to confirm in the “triple-header” of overseas races.

As for Andrea Iannone, the number 29 rider is continuing his work trying to solidify performance astride his RS-GP. The three consecutive races on three tracks that are extremely different from one another will be an important test bench for Andrea and his team.

ALEIX ESPARGARO’

“I like to race in Japan. I love the atmosphere here, even if it won’t be an easy weekend for us. I am riding well, I think as best as possible, on my RS-GP. We are working the right way and this is a good sign for the season finale and, above all, for the 2020 season which will be crucial.”

ANDREA IANNONE

“On paper, Motegi is not a simple track for us. We’ll need to be good at preparing every detail, trying to work on the limitations that we found in Thailand. Understanding which direction to go is essential for us. We have three races in a row ahead on three very different tracks and we need to get the most out of them.”
