APRILIA IN GERMANY ON THE HUNT FOR POINTS

The 2017 MotoGP Championship approaches its ninth round of the season, the last one before the summer break, on the shortest track of the calendar. In fact, it will be the 3,671 metres of the Sachsenring in Germany hosting the next round of the premier category. This will be the umpteenth important exam for the Aprilia RS-GP on a very peculiar circuit. With only 3 right-handers and no less than 10 left-handers, the German track demands great efforts from technicians and riders alike to find the right setup. Having less of an impact will be engine performance, used at maximum power for only about 15% of each lap.

The Aprilia Racing Team Gresini heads to Saxony with a single goal: to make this the best possible finish of the first part of a season where the Italian team has been improving consistently with impressively solid race pace that has been thwarted only by unfortunate situations. Team and rider morale is high and the competitiveness demonstrated on the track thus far lacks only definitive consecration under the chequered flag.

ALEIX ESPARGARO’

“On the Sachsenring I want to bring home a good result. If we analyse the last few races, we have consistently demonstrated that we can battle for important positions. For one reason or another, we have not been successful, but I won’t make excuses. We simply need to keep working well like we have up to now. I am hoping for a normal weekend, without shifting weather and maybe with a bit of extra luck.”

SAM LOWES

“The race aside, in Assen I took big steps forward. I battled and did well in qualifying, so now I am heading to Germany with good sensations. This is a completely different track, both in terms of riding and setup, but the important thing is that I know I can battle for the points zone and I am motivated to finish out this first part of the season in the best possible way.”
