DIMAS STARTS ON RIGHT FOOT AT SEPANG

With Jorge Navarro out of action for the Malaysian Grand Prix, it was time for Dimas Ekky Pratarma to make his Moto2 World Championship debut with Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2. The Indonesian rider had an encouraging first day in the series on board the Kalex #26.

Dimas started to get to grips with the bike on dry track in the morning session and finished with a 3-second gap from the top of the timesheets. In the afternoon, Ekky rode well on wet conditions as he finished FP2 in sixteenth position – after running as high as 13th – despite a crash at Turn 1 with less than seven minutes to go.
Ekky will have more time to improve his feeling with the bike and with the team as Moto2 action resumes at 10:55 local time (GMT +8) for Free Practice 3, which will be followed by qualifying at 15:05.

DIMAS EKKI PRATAMA #26

“It’s my first time riding on the full track at Sepang and I have to say my feeling is already quite good. In FP1 I spent most of the time finding my way around the track – I only knew half of it from my racing in 2015 – but I was able to improve lap after lap and in Free Practice 2 my set-up was pretty good, although we need to take a look at the data to see how we can be faster tomorrow. The realistic goal for the race, even though it won’t be easy, would be to finish in the points.”
