Good pace for Sam Lowes ahead of Valencia challenge

Aboard the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Kalex machine Sam Lowes set the seventh fastest time at the end of this afternoon’s Qualifying for the Valencia Grand Prix at the Ricardo Tormo circuit. The 26-year-old British clocked 1’35”237, 0.358 seconds off poleman, Frenchman Johann Zarco.

Lowes, who will start from the third row of the grid, was pleased with the pace shown during the Qualifying session and is therefore confident of being able to fight in the leading group in tomorrow’s 27-lap race, scheduled at 12.20.

SAM LOWES (7th – 1’35”237)

“The weekend has been so and so, but today we managed to find a good rhythm. This is very positive for the race: it will be important to make a good start, then if we can repeat the same pacetomorrow, we can stay in the leading group and fight for a good result. We want to fight for the podium and finish the season positively. Tomorrow morning, in the warm-up, we will try to make some other small steps forward, then we will see!”.

FAUSTO GRESINI

“We struggled a bit with regard to the fast lap, but the situation for race pace is good: we still lack something, but not much, so tomorrow morning in the warm-up we will continue to work to make a few more small step forward. We are determined to end the season on a high!”.
