POSITIVE FEELINGS AS MONTMELÓ TEST DRAWS TO A CLOSE
#CatalanTest. Few hours after the end of a disappointing – results-wise – Grand Prix of Catalunya (double DNF), Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio have returned to the track for an important day of testing. The primary goal was to find back the right feeling and confidence with the bike, and surely the 50 laps completed by both riders have helped.
For Fabio Di Giannantonio, this has surely been a crucial day ahead of the next races. Just like one month ago at Jerez, team #49 continued the set-up work of a Desmosedici that seems to be gelling better and better with the rider (and vice versa).
Enea Bastianini, on the other hand, was able to try a brand-new fairing that Ducati made available for him and the two Ducati factory riders. There are now few days of relax before the third back-to-back trip, as MotoGP will head to Sachsenring and then Assen in quick succession (19th and 26th of June, respectively).
9th – ENEA BASTIANINI #23 (1’39.844 – 54 laps)
“I tried a new fairing and the feeling with it is good. I feel more comfortable on corner entry, but it’ll be important to see whether we lost something speed-wise or not. It was not possible to evaluate every aspect of it on such a low-grip track as this one. Generally speaking it was a positive day, we made a little step forward with the front-end of the bike and, even though we’re still not 100% ready, we’re surely heading in the right direction.”
10th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49 (1’39.963 – 56 laps)
“We lapped a lot and we were fast. We did a great amount of work with regards to the set-up: we didn’t have anything new to try and it wouldn’t have been the right time to do it anyway: it’s better to focus on what we have to improve. We haven’t fixed everything; the goal was to improve mid-corner and we didn’t, but generally speaking it was a positive test. We have useful information and now we’ll get ready for the next two back-to-back events.”
