MIXED CONDITIONS ON DAY ONE FOR TEAM KÖMMERLING GRESINI IN AUSTRIA

A rainy debut in Austria was expected and instead the rain – which made its appearance yesterday – only affected the afternoon session of Jeremy Alcoba and Gabriel Rodrigo, and not up to the point of being impossible to ride.

The most typical ‘few drops’ have slowed down the on-track work of  Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 and especially the one of the number #52 who despite knowing thr track (he made his debut last year) he could not finish higher than 23rd in the combines times.

Rodrigo did better by finishing 14th, although he crashed at turn one this morning, but the Argentine was the only one able to improve his lap-time in the afternoon and climbed up to eighth place, a position that gives him a little bit of safety for a possible direct seed to Q2 (which would be automatic should FP3 be wet).

8th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’37.079)

“A positive day despite the morning crash at turn one. The setting found at Brno doesn’t work here and without the crash we would have been quick in the morning, too. We improved anyway in the afternoon by half a second and I think with his base we are ready for every condition.”

23rd – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’38.035)

“It’s going to be a difficult weekend because this is a track I cannot seem to like. We have to work very hard and honestly I will need the team even more than usual in order to find the best settings and feeling. We’re struggling at the moment and the 20 minutes lost in the afternoon did not help.”
