DIGGIA AND BULEGA IMPROVING IN #AUSTRIANGP FREE PRACTICE
Today was the second consecutive Friday of Free Practice at Spielbeg and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 was hard at work once again in order to be competitive with both riders at the #AustrianGP. Compared to seven days ago, there was indeed a step forward, with Fabio Di Giannantonio and Nicolò Bulega 14th and 20th, respectively, in the combined times of the two FP sessions.
Both riders managed to set their quickest time in the morning as they could not match the same speed in the second session due to a post-storm damp track. At the moment, only Fabio Di Giannantonio is inside the riders eligible for a direct seed to Q2, with tomorrow’s FP3 – getting underway at 10:55 – that is going to be crucial in order to defend his position and hopefully find some more confidence with the front-end of his bike. The #11 needs to find four-five tenths of a second in order to make a direct step into Q2.
14th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 (1’29.374)
“We started off really well. This morning we were in excellent form and with good feeling, so that in the first few laps I managed to match my personal best time from the #StyrianGP. In the afternoon things changed a bit, with the track definitely a lot damper, and I struggled a bit more. We need to keep working because the track can change a lot throughout the weekend and we have to be ready for every condition.”
20th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’29.601)
“We’re still struggling in the same spots and we can’t seem to improve – especially under braking. We’re losing a lot in some areas of the circuit and my weight doesn’t help on the straights. This is not an excuse, so we need to keep trying to improve in the next couple of days.”
