DIGGIA, FIRST ‘SPRINT’ POINTS AT MOTEGI

The positive weekend continues at Motegi for Fabio Di Giannantonio, who managed to secure his first sprint-race points of the season – and of course, ever.

The standard bearer #49 of Team Gresini MotoGP did an incredible job first in qualifying as he secured an excellent sixth place (also ahead of tomorrow). Then in the sprint race he did his utmost despite a painful shoulder, fought with the top riders and stayed in the points positions from start to finish.

Today’s two points are a boost of fresh confidence ahead of the full race, which will get underway at 3pm local time (GMT+9).

8th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49

First points in a sprint race, but that’s not all. This race gave us plenty of positives: we started well, we kept our position and I could stay with the best ones. There’s still something to improve especially at the start of the race, but we’ll be part of the game. Unfortunately, even despite a strong painkiller we still struggled towards the end of the race… let’s hope we’ll have less issues tomorrow.”
