UNFORTUNATE FRIDAY FOR NAVARRO AT PHILLIP ISLAND

Seven laps across two free practice sessions and two crashes – one per session – have turned Jorge Navarro’s Friday at Phillip Island in one of the worst of his season; the Spaniard was unable to do any work on the bike as he in fact logged his personal quickest lap-time in the morning (1’34.791) that was enough only for a 17thposition in the combined timesheets.

The standard bearer of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 had both tumbles at turn four, even though one was on corner entry and the second on the exit. In the second crash, Jorge suffered some minor damage to his shoulder and hand – albeit nothing to worry about.

Moto2 action will resume tomorrow morning at 10:55 local time (GMT+11) with FP3, while the seventeenth-round qualifying session will begin at 14:30.

17th– JORGE NAVARRO #9

“Today was a very difficult day. FP1 started off OK, but then a crash cost me the feeling I had built with the bike. In FP2 it was more or less the same: I had another crash and this time I kind of hurt my hand and shoulder in the process. We start from scratch tomorrow, with FP3 that are going to be crucial to find a good race pace and get some confidence back.”
