Positive debut for Jorge Navarro aboard the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Kalex
Wrapped up the 2016 season just three days ago in Valencia, the Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 was back on track today at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit to begin the preparations for the 2017 Moto2 World Championship, which will see the team line up one Kalex machine ridden by Spaniard Jorge Navarro, third placed in the 2016 Moto3 campaign.
On his first day aboard the Kalex Moto2 machine, the 20-year-old Spanish rider completed no less than 83 laps, clocking a best time of 1’44”275. Being an absolute debut, Navarro worked substantially to get to grip with the new category, guided by the experience of the team, a work that will continue tomorrow in the second and final day of testing scheduled at the Andalusian circuit.
JORGE NAVARRO
“Today everything was new for me: I jumped on a Moto2 bike for the first time and I also started to work with my new team. The sensations were very positive, because we started to work calmly, improving every time we went out on track, and at the end of the day my feeling with the bike was already good enough. Obviously at the beginning I felt a lot the difference of speed and the weight of the bike compared to Moto3, but the team did a great job, helping me a lot, so throughout the day I got more and more confidence. I’m very happy with this first day of testing and I’m looking forward to getting back on the track tomorrow to continue to work”.
