FERRARI IN Q2: TENTH ON THE GRID TOMORROW

It was a bittersweet Friday for Matteo Ferrari, who finds himself tenth in the combined practice times and was therefore forced to go through Q1, in which he set a time of 1’38.526secs which granted him the access to Q2. The feeling with the bike was good and the rider #11 had all the cards to play for a spot in the front rows. He did manage, however, to complete only two quick laps and with a 1’39.013secs lap-time, he found himself tenth. He will start tomorrow’s race from the fourth row, ready to bounce back in both races.

Alessio Finello had a good start to the day as he was quick in the first practice session. A crash at turn 3 in the early stages of Practice two prevented him for clinching a direct seed to Q2. The Turin-born rider was forced to partake in the first qualifying session, in which he was able to make another step forward and set his quickest lap-time of the day in 1’38.886, which gave him the thirteenth place on the grid.

10th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’39.013)

“It was a good Friday: too bad for FP2 as we did improve our performance, but it wasn’t enough to get into Q2 directly. Then in Q1 we further improve our pace compared to the morning and I’m happy because we managed to make it through. Unfortunately we only had two quick lap attempts and I couldn’t make the most of them. We’re still two-three tenths away from battling for the podium but we’ll work on that ahead of tomorrow.”

13th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1’38.886)

“We started this first day on the right foot: in FP1, I did achieve the goal of getting up to speed and lapping faster than last year. We did a good set-up change ahead of FP2 but unfortunately I crashed out of turn three on my first lap. I did re-join but the bike had some little damage. I still managed to improve but it wasn’t enough for a direct seed to Q2. In Q1 we did our best but I was out of Q2 for three tenths of a second. We’re aware that we do have a good race pace, which is good ahead of tomorrow. I’ll start from thirteenth place on the grid and ready to play my cards right.”
