FERRARI TAKES THE SECOND SPOT IN THE FIRST DUCATI ERA MOTOE TEST

Jerez de la Frontera, 8th March 2023. First official test of the season for the riders of the Team MotoE FELO Gresini Racing, in difficult weather conditions due to rain and clouds above the circuit. However, this did not slow down the enthusiasm of the FELO Gresini Racing riders, on track for the very first time with their brand new Ducati V21L.

Matteo Ferrari has immediately found a good feeling with the new electric Ducati, closing the three days combined standings in second position with a time of 1:47.310 and a gap of only 0.257sec from the first. The rider number #11 managed to be competitive both on the wet asphalt of the first day and in the dry and mixed conditions of the second day, while he used the third day on track to work on the set-up. The sensations are excellent in view of the 2023 championship, that, with the 16 races on the calendar, acquires the title of World Championship for the first time.

Good feeling also for Alessio Finello in the wet, where he managed to be competitive on his Ducati in the first day of testing. Instead, he struggled to close the gap to the first riders in the mixed conditions of the second day. In these three days of difficult weather conditions, the Turin rider still managed to prepare a solid base, from which to start working again during the next test, which will take place in Barcelona on the first week of April.

2nd – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1:47.310; +0.257 – 63 laps)

“Definitely a positive first test of the season, we worked well and collected important data. We managed to be competitive in all conditions and this is fundamental for me. On the third day we made very few laps due to the difficult conditions but we were still able to test the traction and some settings on the bike without looking for the best time. We finished this first test in second position in both dry and wet conditions, so I’m very happy. I thank my team, and Ducati who did a great job in these test. The base of the bike is on the highest level: I think we will have fun this year and we will go really fast. Now we wait for Barcelona!”

17th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1:49.881; +2.828 – 56 laps)

“These three days of testing were complicated because of the weather: with a completely new bike to test, I was hoping for beautiful sunny days, but on the first day we found ourselves under the water. However, the feeling in these conditions is good and we are competitive. The weather then improved on the second day, with two almost-dry sessions that allowed me to understand that we can play on the top level, but I still have to work on consistency and I have to believe on it more. I’m sorry about this last day, that with the mixed conditions didn’t allow us to work at our best, it was a difficult day but that doesn’t discourage me, we created a solid base from which to start in the Barcelona test, where it will be essential to be immediately fast and to work for Le Mans. I want to thank my team, who have worked hard all these days. Now we have a three-week break and then we’re ready to leave even more energized for Barcelona”.
