FERRARI SECOND IN THE ANDALUSIAN E-POLE
Things have changed considerably on the second Saturday of the 2020 season for Team Trentino Gresini MotoE. Compared to one week ago, Alessandro Zaccone was out on track and managed to secure a 14thplace finish in his debut E-Pole session, while current MotoE title holder Matteo Ferrari claimed the second spot on the grid just behind Dominique Aegerter.
It was not an easy day, however: on the #61 side of the garage a lot of work was needed to make up for the time lost last weekend, to which some understandable physical limitation and pain was added due to the ongoing injury of Zaccone. Ferrari and his crew, on the other hand, bumped into some set-up issues which could have played a bigger role in today’s performance by the Italian.
Everything is set for tomorrow’s race however, with Ferrari lining up on the front row and Zaccone further back on row five. The two standard bearers of Team Trentino Gresini MotoE will begin their encounter from 10:05 local time (GMT +2).
2nd – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’48.425)
“I’m ready for tomorrow, as yesterday during FP2 we did a great job ahead of the race. This morning we did a small mistake with the set-up that made our day a bit more difficult. To be getting a front-row start was very important and we did it, despite a mistake in the last sector. We’re quick and consistent and we need to show it in the race.”
14th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’49.734)
“I knew it wouldn’t have been a walk in the park. We’re missing one weekend and I also never tried the E-Pole format. I also made a mistake at turn six so things didn’t go too well. We’re looking for the best set-up and my knee is obviously not in the best condition, and that shows in the third split as there are two quick and long left-handers that make me struggle. We’re not giving up though, and we’ll try to put together a good race tomorrow.”
