FERRARI TWO OUT OF TWO, ON POLE ALSO AT MUGELLO

It was an exciting start to the weekend for Team MotoE FELO Gresini Racing with Matteo Ferrari claiming his second pole position of 2023 after the one secured in Le Mans during the season debut. The rider #11 was among the protagonists from the get-go as he topped the combined FP timesheets which gave him the direct access to Q2. Once there, he once again finished on top with a time of 1’55.752secs, as he earned the most prominent spot on the grid for tomorrow’s two races.

It was a positive day also for Alessio Finello, who had a good feeling straight away with his Ducati motorcycle and managed to set the second-fastest speed of the day in 278.3kmh. The Turin-born rider narrowly missed on a Q2 direct seed and was eventually 13th in qualifying.

1st 🎯 – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’55.752)

“I’m very happy; normally I’m almost never quick in qualifying so the pole position for me is a very important thing. I made a great step forward and work hard at home; the team also worked very well and during practice we managed to create a good base set-up for tomorrow. We’ll need to understand the temperatures as it’ll likely be hotter in the afternoon, so we’ll need to improve the overall setting. The positive thing is that we’re aware of it, so if we’ll work on it tomorrow we’ll be ready!!

13th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1’56.882)

“My so-far best-ever Friday: we managed to get a good start in FP1, and then we improved further in FP2 and qualifying. I missed direct admission to Q2 for very, very little time, and the same happened in Q1. We’re all very close and the level of the championship is very high. I can’t be fully satisfied, however, as I want to race at the front, be consistently in the top ten and get into Q2: we’re still have to work on these aspects. But I’m still happy with the fact that we managed to improve in each session. There’ll be two races tomorrow, we’ll have fun!”
