FIFTH ROW FOR ARENAS AND GONZALEZ
It was a challenging Saturday at Misano: in the combined classification of the two Practice session, both Arenas and Gonzalez showed speed once again and therefore secured the direct seed to Q2, where unfortunately were unable to make the difference. They will line up on row five of the grid, in fourteenth and fifteenth, respectively, ready to bounce back in the race.
Matteo Ferrari continues to improve. He was forced to partake in Q1 and then set his fastest time of the weekend so far in 1:36.259secs. He will be on the twenty-fifth place on the grid, aiming for points.
14th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’35.463)
“Qualifying didn’t go as expected: we made a step forward speed wise compared to Misano1 and we did well in practice, but it wasn’t enough. We will have to make some ground in the race with a good start and some good early laps, before continuing with a consistent pace until the end.”
15th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’35.464)
“It wasn’t a great qualifying performance: we tried to adjust the bike for a fast-lap, but we couldn’t improve, so we’ll start halfway through the pack. Our goal was to get a spot on the front rows, while we’ll need a comeback race tomorrow with many overtakes. I’m confident though, as I’ve got a very good pace, but it’ll be a challenging race.”
25th – MATTEO FERRARI #23 (1’36.259)
“I’m happy with this second day: we surely made a step forward but from testing and yesterday. We’re improving lap after lap and in qualifying we were constantly in the 1:36s, with our fastest lap being a 1:36.259. Obviously for the other riders it’s easier to be quick in the time attack being their second weekend at this track in Moto2, but we still did a good job. The goal for tomorrow is finishing in the top 15, it’ll be an uphill race but we have a good pace, so I’m confident.”
