NAVARRO STEPS UP IN QUALIFYING AND TAKES 7th PLACE

Jorge Navarro and the Federal Oil Gresini Team have one good reason to be happy today as the Spanish rider takes a very positive 7th place on the grid for tomorrow’s Moto2 race after a great performance in qualifying at Mugello Circuit in Italy.

The 21-year-old series rookie has not only logged a 1’52.398secs lap-time – which was more than a second faster than his previous personal best time of the weekend – but also displayed a great race pace by consistently lapping in the high 1’52s.

Navarro is now looking forward to further improving his Kalex Honda machine set-up in order to try and mix at the front in the race, which is scheduled to begin at 12:20 local time (GMT +2).

7th – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“I’m really happy, because I didn’t start the weekend the best way possible. This morning something changed, though, and even if I wasn’t super quick with fresh tyres, I was feeling comfortable nevertheless. We did a good job in qualifying but, most of all, we have a good race pace. We will try to fine tune our package tomorrow morning, so that we will be able to fight for a top-10 finish and, who knows, even for something more.
