TOP-5 RACE RESULT FOR NAVARRO IN AUSTRIA

It has been an almost-flawless racing weekend for Jorge Navarroat the Red Bull Ring: after equalling his best Moto2 qualifying, the young Spaniard scored his so-far best result in the category by finishing the eleventh Grand Prix of the season in fifth place – at the end of what was surely not an easy race.

The rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2did everything right, including the start: as the Moto2 field approached turn two, he was in second place behind Oliveira. With the Portuguese rider pulling away with an astonishing pace, Navarro rode at the limit but was eventually caught by a resurgent Bagnaia. Despite moving down the order, Jorge maintained his focus and managed to stay with the chasing pack.

In the final stages of the race – and also courtesy of the mistake by Marquez – Navarro was able to return into the top-five and take a very important result – which helped him move up to 13th in the standings.

5th– JORGE NAVARRO #9

“I gave everything I had today and I’m especially happy with my start: I was fourth on the grid and at turn one I was already up to second place – I could barely believe it! I tried to keep Oliveira’s pace and I managed to do so for a couple of laps, although I was taking a bit too many risks. When Bagnaia caught me, I made a couple of mistakes, but then found my rhythm again. Fifth place is surely a great step forward. Maybe I was a little bit quicker in Brno than here, but thanks to the great start we managed to get a much better result this time.”
