FINELLO 12th AT LE MANS. A FRIDAY TO FORGET FOR FERRARI

It was a positive day for Alessio Finello, who ended up missing out on a direct seed to Q2 for only a few tenths of a second after the two practice sessions. Then in Q1 he set his fastest time in 1’40.393secs and could not make it through for only 46 milliseconds. He will start tomorrow’s races from twelfth place on the grid: with a solid pace shown by the Turin-born rider, the top ten is clearly within reach.

Matteo Ferrari had a very challenging day as he crashed in FP2 and was therefore forced to take part in Q1. The ingredients to make it into Q2 were all there – as the former MotoE champion was eyeing the front rows of the grid. A technical problem ultimately forced the rider #11 back to the pits and cost him every chance to set a competitive lap-time. He will start tomorrow’s races from fourteenth place on the grid, ready to give it all.

12nd – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1’40.393)

“We’re quick and I’m happy, if we exclude the crash on the final lap in qualifying: I was trying very hard. I missed Q2 for very little, 46 thousandths of a second to be precise. We improved a lot and made a big step forward and lap-time wise we’re very close to the guys at the front. I’m sorry for the crash, but it’s part of the game. I’m charged up for tomorrow: if we display the same energy as today, we’ll be able to put together two good races. Let’s stay focused for tomorrow!”

14th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’40.647)

“It was a difficult Friday no doubt. I feel good with the bike: unfortunately, after setting a good lap-time in FP2, I ended up crashing at turn 1 and we were unable to return to action. The feeling with the bike was good but we had a problem in Q1 so we had to stop and then get out again, and ultimately, we couldn’t put together a good enough lap to make it through. We’ll try to bounce back tomorrow!”
