RACE TWO: BOTH RIDERS IN THE POINTS AT JEREZ

Race2 – #SpanishGP The second race of the 2022 season has drawn to a close for the riders of team FELO Gresini Racing MotoE under a scorching sun at Jerez. Matteo Ferrari was not able to put together a repeat performance – he was third yesterday – as he crossed the line in sixth place. The rider #11 struggled to get up to speed in the early part of the encounter, but he was able to settle into a good rhythm later on. He is now fourth in the championship standings.

Alessio Finello scored his first point in the series after making a mistake at the start: he tried to fix it during lap one, but that made him lose touch with the group ahead. The rider number #72 was 15th at the checkered flag as he gathered plenty of experience ahead of the next races on the calendar.

6th – MATTEO FERRARI #11

“I was able to get up to speed in the second half of the race; I was quick, but we still need to work on the early laps and on the start, which was far from perfect. The good thing about today is that we’re improving our feeling with the bike and we didn’t make any mistake – the chances of crashing were high. I’m very happy with our weekend: it has always been the most challenging for us and I was expecting to struggle a bit more, especially given the high temperatures. This year we made a step forward: we bagged 26 points and that’s the biggest amount I’ve ever collected in the first two MotoE races of the year. We’re fourth in the championship and except for Granado we’re all very close. Now we need to focus on Le Mans, where we’ve always been strong: I’m confident, we start from here and we move forward!”

15th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72

“It was surely not the type of debut I was dreaming of when I was a child. We made a mistake in the heat of the start and that destabilized me throughout the race: I tried to fix it during the first lap but lost touch with the group ahead. The feeling with the bike was not too bad despite yesterday’s crash, but I still wasn’t able to race at my level and my pace. We still scored one point and managed to finish the race, but it was important for me to do as many kms as possible and gathered more experience. We now go to Le Mans and give it another try. I would like to thank the team for the great work they’re doing as they’re allowing me to grow. I would also like to thank the sponsor and everybody who has followed me this weekend and have been supporting me for years.”
