STRONG PERFORMANCE ALREADY FOR THE INDONESIAN E-RACING GRESINI MOTOE TEAM AT JEREZ
An important three-day test at Jerez de la Frontera draws to a close for the l’Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE team with a positive result which places the newly-born team near near the top-end of the timesheets in what was the first outing of 2021.
It was to be expected – although not to be given for granted – to see Matteo Ferrari (title winner in 2019 and runner up last year) already in the top positions from day one. The rider #11 did a lot of work in order to get back the right feeling with the Energica Ego Corsa and finished third from Granado and Aegerter with a 0.6secs gap.
It was a very positive debut for Andrea Mantovani, who wrapped up his test with a lap-time that was less than half a second shy from the more experienced teammate (+0.467) to claim a spot in the top ten. The rookie also had a crash today, in which he hurt his right foot, but he was still able to get back on track.
3rd – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’48.200 – 57 laps)
“Today was not a lucky day: the second session was cancelled and the simulation didn’t happen due to an issue with the charger on the grid. This morning we had a good session: we tried the new tyres and the new front forks and we worked on the set-up. I need to make a step forward with my riding to be up there, but to be starting with a top-three finish is a good sign.”
10th – ANDREA MANTOVANI #9 (1’48.667 – 54 laps)
“We got better each and every day and improving by one second each time. It’s a great challenge: it’s a new way to ride the bike but I felt immediately comfortable with both the bike and the team. I was expecting a more difficult bike when changing direction, but the balance is excellent. I’m really confident!”
