TEAM FEDERAL OIL STARTS 2021 ON RIGHT FOOT
#QatarGP Free Practice. Fabio di Giannantonio this morning, Nicolò Bulega in the afternoon: Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 both riders near the front end in the first official day of free practice at Losail.
Di Giannantonio had a blistering start as he finished third quickest in FP1 (2’00.547) and was also able to improve slightly in the afternoon, although he struggled with track conditions: his 1’59.876secs lap-time gave him the 16th place at the end of the day, but the Q2 direct access is only three hundredths of a second away.
His teammate Nicolò Bulega did better: his 1’59.443s time allows the #11 to be more relaxed ahead of FP3, in which he will try to bridge the gap to today’s provisional pole (0.484s).

“Being the first day, I’m happy. We did a great job despite the conditions of the track being worse compared to the test. I found more or less the same type of feeling and that is important, because I was a bit worried about it. We are working well with the team, we’re a good group and that’s the thing I like the most. I’m happy with Q2, it was important as tomorrow in FP3 it won’t be easy to improve our time with higher temperatures.”
16th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 (1’59.876)
“First day and I must say we worked well. This morning we started off with a good set-up and worked well. We were quite quick, while in the afternoon we tried something different and we struggled a bit more due to the track being slightly damper. We will analyze what went wrong but we’re all close, so I’m confident we can clinch Q2 tomorrow.”
