#ITALIANGP – NAVARRO: “WE NEED TO STEP UP OUR GAME”

The first day of action for the Italian Grand Prix has not be a simple one for Jorge Navarro and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, with the Spaniard unable to finish higher than 19th in the combined times of today’s two free practice sessions at Mugello.

One of the most active on track with almost 40 laps completed throughout the two sessions, Navarro finished with a best time of 1’53.268, which was more than a second slower than the lap-time logged by day one leader Mir. There are many things to work on, but first and foremost different settings for corner entry and direction changes.

There is still plenty of time to do so, from FP3 at 10:55 local time (GMT +2) to the 15:05 qualifying session of this sixth round of the season – a crucial one for Team Gresini given this is the first home event of the season.

19th – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“It’s been quite a complex day for us. This morning I immediately noticed I was struggling in getting up to speed, despite the feeling was good: we finished eight tenth of a second from the top, which was neither too bad nor good. We tried different settings in the afternoon, but nothing that really made us happy. We need to do something because I struggle on corner entry and the bike is slow in changing direction – and I lose control of the front-end when I open the throttle. A difficult day overall, but we surely have what it takes to improve.”
