MISANO: PREVIOUS CRASHES AND BRUISES SLOW DOWN RODRIGO AND ALCOBA ON DAY1
#SanMarinoGP Free Practice. It was a really challenging first day of action at Misano World Circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’ for the Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 team who sees both riders outside the group of riders who can be seeded directly to Q2. Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba are currently 16th and 28th, respectively.
Having both crashed in the previous race at Aragón, they are slowly recovering – as both got away with a few bruises: Rodrigo is experiencing a tendinitis in his left shoulder, which is affecting him at least in a couple of corners of the Italian track; Alcoba has a big bruise in his left hand (which is also a bit swollen as well).
Tomorrow morning at 9am it will be time to ride through the pain with the Q2 only a few thousandths of a second away for the Argentine and more than half a second for the Spaniard (the current 14th-quickest lap-time is 1’43.112secs).
16th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’43.147)
“Unfortunately, the crash at Aragón left its mark and we started the weekend with a strong tendinitis in my left shoulder. This is because I got an infiltration which should kick in from tomorrow. I should have felt some effect today, but I was in pain already after three laps. I struggle a lot under braking into left corners and today’s work was affected by it. We have a good base for the set-up so we will try to get to the race in the best possible shape.”
28th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’43.894)
“The hand is bothering me a lot even though I must admit that between FP1 and FP2 things have improved a lot. Unfortunately, I must say that the feeling with the bike went the opposite way: I was riding it the way I wanted in the morning, but we could not find the right adjustments in the afternoon. This is a track where we can do well: the hand is improving little by little and we just have to make sure to be ready.”
