NAVARRO ENDURES “WORST SATURDAY OF THE SEASON” AT #CATALANGP

There is a lot of work to do at the garage of team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 at the end of what was an extremely difficult qualifying session at Montmeló, which saw Navarro only 19th in the QP timesheets.

Among the biggest issues, Navarro lacked feeling with the front-end of his Kalex machine as he lapped on almost identical times with used and fresh tyres – meaning he could not find that extra that could have helped him get a better starting position. His seventh row-start was only one second shy of pole and only 0.3secs away from eighth.

With such a poor grid position, a good start will be important in order to get into a good rhythm; before that, the warm up will be the last chance to find a good set-up for the front-end of the bike.

19º – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“It has been without a doubt the most complicated Saturday of the season. We couldn’t find a good set-up and that translated into our worst qualifying performance of the season and we must find something that can help us. We struggle with the front-end a lot, almost as if we were racing on ice: I can’t hit the brakes the way I want and the same applies to corner entry. We will have to work a lot between tonight and tomorrow: the goal is to do a good race as our pace is not too bad. We need a step forward – even a little one – if we want to battle for the top-ten.”
