FOURTH-ROW QUALIFYING FOR NAVARRO AT MISANO

Jorge Navarro will start the 26-lap, thirteenth race of the 2017 Moto2 World Championship from the fourth row on the grid after qualifying in 12th place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli today. The Spaniard logged a QP time of 1’38.128secs, which was 0.738secs shy of pole position.

The rider of team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 managed to improve on his best free practice time – set during yesterday’s FP2 – by half a second while out on track on used tyres.

The 21-year-old Moto2 rookie was unable to make the most of the fresh set of tyres in the last outing before the chequered flag, otherwise he could have aimed for a much better starting position. The second row of the grid, in fact, was only two tenths of a second away.

With the rain likely to play a major role tomorrow, Moto2 will return to the track at 9:10 local time, while the race will get underway at 12:20.

12th – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“We made a good step forward in qualifying. This morning I had not feeling at all with the bike after yesterday’s two crashes, so the focus for FP3 was to find it back. We didn’t even use new tyres because it was all about the feeling. This morning things went better, but I lost a bit of confidence with the front-end of the bike when I started to push. Ironically enough, we set our fastest lap-time in the second outing, with used tyres. This is a sort of hint of where we have to start tomorrow. We have a good pace in dry conditions and we could stay either with the first of second group, apart from Pasini, Morbidelli and Aegerter who seem to have something more. If it rains, I hope it does start before warm up so that we’ll have a bit more indications ahead of the race.”
