NAVARRO: “WE ARE NOT EVEN NEAR 70% OF OUR POTENTIAL”

Jorge Navarro did not want to miss his home round and today, around the corners of the Valencia circuit, the young Spaniard showed great commitment and motivation as he took to the track despite still not having recovered from the hand injury.

The rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 kept making progress through the day as he finished with the 24th fastest time of FP1 and FP2 combined. It was not obviously a significant lap-time given the fact that Navarro has been away from competition since Phillip Island, but today’s two session were very important for him to get back into the swing of things on board his Kalex machine #9.

Navarro, whose cut in the hand partially opened as a stitch came out during the afternoon session, will be back on track tomorrow for FP3 – scheduled at 10:55 local time (GMT +1) – while his participation to the race will depend on how the weekend will continue – although it is likely to happy.

24th –  JORGE NAVARRO #9

“The hand bothers me a little but that was to be expected. I don’t have problems under braking but while accelerating it hurts more than it should. I can ride without a doubt, but I’m not even near 70% fit. Today was all about getting the feeling back and some confidence with the bike. We were able to improve in each outing and that’s already a big goal. We will take every session as it comes and I think we will be able to race on Sunday, but we must take things one step at a time.”
