OFF TO THE OVERSEAS: JAPAN AND THEN STRAIGHT TO INDONESIA

The time has come to cross the ocean again for two crucial races for the championship. After the home race at Misano, the Italjet Gresini Moto2 team is ready to get back into the game: a back-to-back that starts in Japan, with the Motegi circuit, famous for its hard braking, where the team finished the weekend on the top step last year. This year, the goal is to repeat the result with Arenas, who has already shown he has what it takes to fight for the podium, and he can try again at this circuit. Binder is coming off a difficult part of the season, but at Misano he’s started to see the light. At the circuit where he scored his first podium in Moto3, he wants to make a decisive step and return to fight for the points.

Then comes Indonesia, a seaside race that feels like a holiday: but we mustn’t lose focus, the championship is still long and there are so many points at stake, every single race can make the difference. The Italjet Gresini Moto2 team is full of energy for this back-to-back and will do everything possible to bring the team’s colors back to the top.

ALBERT ARENAS #75

“Japan in general is always magical, and Motegi is a track I really like, where I’ve always had good races. We’ll try to start with a better pace than Misano from the first session: we had a technical meeting during this week’s break to get a clear idea of the work to be done. Then comes Indonesia: we’re by the sea and it’s always a great feeling here. These Asian races, however, are very different from those in Europe, so it will be crucial to be smart and seize every opportunity: we have the speed, so we need to stay focused and get back on the podium, which is always our goal.”

DARRYN BINDER #15

“I‘m really looking forward to the overseas rounds: it’s definitely my favorite part of the season, especially Japan: it’s my favorite track and the one where I scored my first podium ever, back in Moto3. It’s a unique track, with a lot of hard braking: I’m really excited for that! Then we’ll head straight to Indonesia: I had one of my best ride there last year, and I want to repeat that this year. The place is spectacular, with such cool vibes, both at the track and in the city; it feels a bit like racing on holiday: that gives me an extra boost. I got high hopes for these next two races; we want to make a decisive step forward and end on high note as possible and try to have fun in these final rounds of the season.”
