PORTIMAO: IRONIC FRONT ROW QUALIFYING FOR ALCOBA, RODRIGO IN TOP-FIVE
#PortugueseGP Qualifying. Anotu r Saturday to remember for the Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 who places both its riders in the top positions as Jeremy Alcoba and Gabriel Rodrigo were third and fifth at the end of the Portuguese Moto3 qualifying.
Unfortunately, the better qualified of the two will have to start from pit-lane with a five-second delay due to the penalty received in Qatar, while Rodrigo moves up one place and will head row two. The Argentine, however, was hit and taken out of action by Salac while on his last flying lap.
Just a little bit of frustration for Rodrigo who was uninjured after the tumble. The warm up will be crucial to regain the great confidence he has showed so far throughout the weekend. Alcoba will enter ‘comeback mode’ from 11:20 local time (GMT +1).
3rd – JEREMY ALCOBA (1’47.702)
“We are getting more experience and better results in each qualifying. This is surely the best thing about this front row qualifying, which will be of no use tomorrow. We are competitive, this is sure, we studied last year’s race and I believe a top-15 finish will not be impossible.”
5th – GABRIEL RODRIGO (1’47.909)
“It is a real shame, because we worked really well during all sessions and found a good feeling from FP1 and a this collision on my last lap was the last thing we needed today. In any case, we’ll be fourth on the grid, we have the pace to do well and be protagonists.”
