PORTIMAO AND VALENCIA TO WRAP UP IN STYLE THE JOURNEY IN MOTO3
A very important era is drawing to a close, marked by incredible moments: from the double title in 2018 to the many wins and podiums of a journey started in 2012, which will see Portimao and Valencia as the last two events for Gresini Racing in the quarter-litre class of MotoGP.
Jeremy Alcoba and Gabriel Rodrigo will wrap up in style this decade of racing in the category: the Argentine rider will make his return at Portimao even though he still not 100% fit, while the Spaniard will try to leave behind the performance of last April, which was affected by a penalty.
The upcoming two back-to-back races are very important once, with Valencia being their last encounter of the two Gresini standard bearer before starting their own journey in Moto2. The hope is to have Rodrigo back to full fitness at Cheste.
JEREMY ALCOBA #52
(12th in the championship standings – 72 points)
“I like both tracks a lot, especially Portimao: last April, despite the penalty we were very competitive, and I see no reason why we shouldn’t be this time, too. Valencia will be my last Moto3 race… so there’ll be plenty of emotions, but we’ll do our best to give Team Gresini something to remember and to repay them for the trust that has been put in me.”
GABRI RODRIGO #2
(16th in the championship standings – 60 points)
“We finally return to the track. Last week I could test my condition aboard the bike and even if I won’t be 100% fit, I will still try to race. I’m improving day after day, but the problem may be about strength and endurance in the changes of direction. I will be there, though, and I can’t wait.”
