Q2 WITHIN REACH FOR TEAM FEDERAL OIL AT MONTMELO

Nicolò Bulega and Edgar Pons are riding full speed towards the #CatalanGP qualifying. Today’s free practice – wind aside – have confirmed the good feeling for both riders aboard their Kalex machine, with the two riders finishing in 13th and 17th respectively and separated by less than two tenths of a second.

The morning session was key for both. Bulega logged a 1’44.936 and he is, for now, within the group of riders that will be seeded to tomorrow’s Q2. Pons worked more on his race pace and avoided taking any risk in the afternoon, when weather conditions worsened and the wind reached a ‘top speed’ of 45km/h.

13th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’44.936)

“It wasn’t easy to ride in the afternoon. We still worked on the set-up  and found a good one ahead of tomorrow. I must say that it could have gone a lot better but a faulty tyre, which was confirmed by Dunlop, had limited us a bit. We’re still doing some decent lap-times and I think we can do even better tomorrow.”

17th – EDGAR PONS #57 (1’45.124)

“We’re closer. This is a circuit I know and this morning we were in the top 15, while in the afternoon – with a lot of wind – I chose not to take any risk. I’m happy, we’re doing a good job and tomorrow we will continue in the same direction we took this morning in order to continue improving.”
