FIFTH ROW FOR LOWES IN MOTEGI QP

Sam Lowes was 15th in today’s Japanese Grand Prix qualifying after a difficult Q2 in mixed conditions.

After finishing yesterday’s free practice in fifth place in dry conditions, a crash during FP3 and not the best feeling on the number 22 Kalex in the wet, the going was tough in Q2. A best lap-time of 2’03.479 set by the Federal Oil Gresini Moto2rider is some distance from the top riders, but with the race pace he showed on Friday, the Briton is looking forward to a great battle on Sunday.

With a warm-up still to take advantage of and with weather conditions that should improve (the forecast says cloudy but with no rain expected), the former World Supersport Champion is prepared for yet another comeback, with the 16thrace of the season set to get underway at 12.20 pm local time (GMT+7).

15th – SAM LOWES #22 (2’03.479)

“It was a disastrous Saturday. This morning with the track completely wet, we never found the right feeling, I crashed and I did not return to the track. Nothing serious but it limited us in our work. Then in qualifying the conditions were mixed, 15 minutes later I could have ride with slick tyres, but I didn’t want to take any risk and tomorrow we will start from the fifth row. We worked well in the dry and we have a good pace, so I’m quite positive for the race.”
