RODRIGO AND ALCOBA HUNTING DOWN Q2 IN FRIDAY’S FREE PRACTICE AT SPIELBERG

Challenging conditions and hard work marked the first day of action for the Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 team, whose goal was to find back the feeling they had in the last races before the summer break.

It was mission accomplished for Gabriel Rodrigo who, overall placement aside, claimed he was happy with the feeling with the bike and the track. Jeremy Alcoba had a less convincing performance with the track being not the best one for his riding style.

The two Gresini standard bearers, who were separated by only two tenths of a second, will try tomorrow to gain direct access to Q2 as the time to beat is now set at 1’37.407secs.

18th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’37.532)

“It was a positive day, even though our result does not show the type of feeling we had on the bike. In the last run, with mix weather conditions we tried to do a time attack and despite that we were quick – and the only thing holding us back was rain in the last wo sectors. We would have been in the top five otherwise. But we’re ready and tomorrow morning we will try to put together the right lap. Both the feeling and the bike performance are there.”

23rd – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’37.785)

“It wasn’t easy to get back on the bike after a month’s break. We worked step by step during the whole day and we improved little by little. Unfortunately the circuit being a ‘stop and go’ one does not give me any advantage and, last sector aside, we’re struggling quite a bit. We need to work especially on the set-up for corners six and seven, where I lose the most ground.”
