LAP RECORD IS NOT ENOUGH FOR RODRIGO, ALCOBA MAKES IT BACK TO TOP-15
#PortugueseGP Race. The Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 is once again among the protagonists of the quarter-litre class of MotoGP. Two parallel races for Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba, both in the points for the first time in 2021.
Top-five result for a Gabriel Rodrigo in excellent form, although he received a penalty after a collision with Artigas and had to do a long lap penalty. The Argentinean rider did an incredible job to get back to sixth place but at the finish line he was only 0.060s shy of a podium finish despite setting a new lap record of the track thrice (the fastest one being 1’47.610).
Two very important points also for Jeremy Alcoba who was starting from pit lane with a five-second delay. The Spaniard put together a frantic pace and he is happy with his performance in the first European race.
5th – GABRIEL RODRIGO
“I made a mistake and I paid for it, and I want first of all I would like to apologise to Artigas. The race went well, we were in great form and I was able to recover many positions despite the penalty. We set a lot of fast laps, but in the end I didn’t have enough left to battle for the podium. A top-five and 11 important points.”
14th – JEREMY ALCOBA
“I did what I had to and even some more. Truthfully I wasn’t expecting to lap in the high 1’47s after 14 laps so I naas to be happy. Too bad to start that far back but we learned our lesson and got some confidence riding on my own. The bike was perfect and I’m really happy with the team work.”
