RODRIGO ON FRONT ROW, ALCOBA BEHIND HIM IN SIXTH

The Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 Team scored their best qualifying result of the season so far as Gabriel Rodrigo will be on the front row (3rd) for the first time in 11 Grand Prix, as his previous top three was in Montmeló one year ago. A very encouraging sixth place also for Jeremy Alcoba, sixth at this debut at this venue.

Today all the thoughts are, however, for Jason Dupasquier, who was the unlucky protagonist of a horrible crash at the exit of turn nine, which also saw Alcoba involved. The best wishes go to the young rider and his team.

3rd – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2

“We have been quick since FP1 and this front row is surely positive; it is the first of the season even though we have always been among the best, especially on the Friday. Our thoughts obviously are all for Dupasquier, as we hope he can recover as quick as possible.”

6th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52

“When such things happen it’s hard to speak about anything else. All I can say is that Jason can recover as quick as possible. I was pushing hard because I didn’t get the chequered flag and I thought I could improve, but at the Arrabbiata corner we saw the red flag: Rodrigo, who was ahead of me, hit the brakes and I moved to the right to a blind spot and before I knew it I was on the ground. I didn’t even have the time to realise how and why I crashed.”
