BITTER SATURDAY FOR TEAM FEDERAL OIL AT LE MANS

Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2’s hopes for a good qualifying session came to a halt at Q1, with Nicolò Bulega and Edgar Pons who could not finish higher than 20th and 25th, respectively. A step up in terms of performance was expected compared to yesterday and that did come in FP3, where the Italian pushed hard and missed a Q2 direct seed for only 82 thousandths of a second.

In this afternoon’s Q1, Edgar Pons logged a 1’37.830secs lap-time, while Bulega, after crashing unhurt at turn 10, missed a chance to make it through for only eight hundreds of a second – and of course to battle for a much better starting grid position.

The race for the middleweight class of MotoGP at Le Mans will get underway – unusually – at 14:30.

20th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’37.415)

“Another difficult day. Truthfully, we had the potential to be in the top ten, but for just some milliseconds we were left behind in FP3 and the crash in Q1 was the final blow. The race pace isn’t too bad and we’re close to the top ten, so we’ll have to stay strong and focused.”

25th – EDGAR PONS #57 (1’37.830)

“We got a little bit better feeling-wise and we managed to break the 1’38secs battier, which will be important for the race pace. We are way on the back of the grid, but with a good warm up we can make a step forward and then give it all in the race.”
