TEAM KÖMMERLING NEAR THE FRONT IN ANDALUSIA

TOP5 FOR RODRIGO, ALCOBA PENALISED BUT SEVENTH

Two very different race performances, but both as protagonists for Gabriel Rodrigo and Jeremy Alcoba who end the two-round Andalusian trip with a brace of good results. The Argentine stayed in the lead for a good part of the race to avoid the battle racing behind him, while the Spaniard took a much steadier approach as he stayed at the tail of the leading group for the majority of the encounter.

Both standard bearers of Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 played their cards in the late stages of the race. Alcoba, who had the pace to fight for the podium, managed with make up some places and to cross the line in fourth place (which was then turned into a seventh place due to a long-lap penalty that was not carried out), while Rodrigo was fifth at the line, with the front tyre ‘betraying’ him in the final laps.

Only a week of rest and then it will be time for Czech Republic, a track that Rodrigo loves and where Alcoba will try to impress again at his debut on this track. Brno will host the fourth event of the season on August 8-9.

5th – GABRI RODRIGO #2  ((general standing 5th with 30 points)

“We did a good race. I must admit that I rode on much tighter lines to avoid being overtaken and get in the back of the pack, so that led to a much-quicker front-tyre consumption. In the last laps I didn’t have the best feeling and after a couple of close calls I preferred to salvage the most points. I hope I could battle for the podium, but a top-five on a track where I never really shone in the race is surely an improved result. Next there are tracks a lot better suited to my style, so I leave Jerez in a good mood.”

7th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (general standing 10th with 19 points)

“I thought the race was going to be a lot quicker, but in the end I was able to stay with the front group and maybe in the last laps I even had a bit more than them. I didn’t see the long-lap sign and I was basically at my last lap, so I preferred to finish with them rather than doing the lap. I’m really happy with how the race went even though it always leaves you a bittersweet taste in your mouth to finish so much close to the front but then being seventh. Thanks to the team for the incredible work of these weeks.”
