TOP TEN PERFORMANCE IN STYRIAN QUALIFYING FOR INDONESIAN RACING GRESINI MOTO3

It was all in all a positive result for Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 in the first qualifying at the Styrian Grand Prix (at the same track hosting another round next weekend). Jeremy Alcoba and Gabriel Rodrigo claimed 9th and 10th on the grid – only two tenths away from pole position.

Things could have surely been better for Jeremy Alcoba, who was fourth as Q2 drew to a close courtesy of an incredible lap time. A yellow flag situation, though, led to the cancellation of his time so the #52 has to settle for a third-row start. Gabriel Rodrigo had a more challenging journey to Q2  as he had to make his way through the first qualifying session after a sub-par FP3.

The biggest question mark lies ahead of the race, scheduled at 11:00 local time (GMT +2): the rain could change the balance of what has been so far a very levelled field.

9th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’36.716)

“Too bad, because we did a great lap, but we’re not too far down on a track where I normally struggle quite a lot – so the third row is a good thing after all. I would have been the fastest Honda rider, but it is what it is. I must say we found something important today that allowed me to be competitive in FP3, so we’ll try to battle at the front tomorrow.”

10th – GABRI RODRIGO #2 (1’36.720)

“The feeling is good and the gap from yesterday went from seventh to two tenths of a second. We’ll have to put up a fight tomorrow, especially if it rains: if that happens, it will be a survival race and our goal is to start this second part of the season on a high note.”
